U.S. Navy Secretary confirms Iranian attacks damaged Bahrain base
Acting U.S. Navy Secretary Hung Cao has confirmed that Iranian attacks caused significant damage to U.S. military facilities in Bahrain. Cao stated that the strikes 'literally crushed' the area, specifically targeting infrastructure essential for Navy basing and sustainment. This damage has severely impacted the operations of the USS Abraham Lincoln, leaving the aircraft carrier's crew with nowhere to dock.
In a separate incident involving Iranian strikes in Jordan, CBS News reported that several U.S. aircraft were damaged at the Muwaffaq Salti air base. Approximately eight F-15 fighter jets sustained minor damage, and an A-10 Thunderbolt was reportedly hit, losing a wing. U.S. forces utilized over 30 Patriot missiles to defend against the attacks, and no U.S. personnel fatalities were reported.
The damage in Bahrain has prompted the U.S. Navy to form a task force to evaluate the necessity and feasibility of returning to the base and restoring its facilities.
