Iran begins phased distribution of September grocery coupon credits

The Iranian Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare has begun the phased distribution of electronic grocery coupon credits for September. The current credit amount is set at one million tomans per person.

Distribution is organized into groups based on the final digit of the household head's national ID. The first phase, which began on September 15, includes households where the ID ends in 0, 1, or 2, as well as those covered by the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, the State Welfare Organization, and the armed forces. Subsequent groups are scheduled for September 25 and October 5.

Minister Ahmad Midri noted that while the current amount remains unchanged, the government and parliament are discussing potential increases to combat inflation, depending on available financial resources. Deputy Minister Yaghoub Andayesh stated that the government is continuously reviewing the costs of the 11 covered commodity items and identifying income groups. If funding is secured, increases may be targeted specifically at low- and middle-income groups, while higher-income households would not receive additional credits.
