Iran Chamber of Commerce calls for foreign trade continuity task force
Samad Hassanzadeh, President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, has proposed the formation of a foreign trade continuity task force to protect the nation's export flows. Speaking at the 30th National Export Day, Hassanzadeh emphasized the need for a unified approach between the government and the private sector to mitigate external economic pressures and uncertainties.
He highlighted that the current geopolitical climate, characterized by a state of “neither war nor peace,” creates risks for transport routes and increases exchange costs. To counter these challenges, he urged the government to collaborate with the private sector, the Central Bank, and customs authorities to develop an operational plan. Key recommendations include diversifying transport routes, simplifying customs procedures, strengthening trade insurance, and reforming currency policies to better support exporters.
Additionally, Hassanzadeh called for a review of restrictive commercial card policies and requested that authorities distinguish between intentional violations and compensable obligations to protect reputable exporters.
