Iran claims ability to disrupt Starlink satellite internet

Iranian officials have claimed the ability to disrupt and disable Starlink satellite terminals within the country. Mohammad Amin Aghamiri, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, stated in an interview that Iran has previously succeeded in interfering with the SpaceX-owned network. He noted that while Starlink has implemented changes to its systems following these disruptions, Iran continues to develop technologies to counter the service.

Aghamiri described the effort as managing technology with technology and indicated that Iran possesses several such technologies, expressing readiness to share them with allied nations.

Regarding domestic alternatives, Aghamiri mentioned that the Supreme Council of Cyberspace has been working on indigenous satellite internet projects since 2021. While these projects have achieved certain milestones through foreign cooperation or independent investment, they are time-consuming, and no specific timeline for public service has been established.
