Iran claims military and political victory over US and Israel

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has declared that Iran achieved military and political victory following a conflict involving the United States and Israel. Ghalibaf stated that the adversaries failed to meet any of their nine specific strategic objectives and praised the bravery of the Iranian people in facing what he described as an ‘unjust war.’

The dispute includes significant tension over the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that after defeating Iran, the United States would declare the strait as part of U.S. territory, asserting that Washington already maintains de facto control over the area.

Tehran has rejected these claims. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi asserted that the strait ‘has been, is and will be Iranian,’ stating that control cannot be established through decrees or military presence alone. Ghalibaf further emphasized that Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz serves as a primary geopolitical deterrent and negotiation leverage.
