Iran claims shoot-down of US LUCAS drone near Bandar Abbas

The Iranian military announced that its air defense systems shot down a US-developed LUCAS drone over the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. The LUCAS drone is a low-cost unmanned aerial vehicle produced by Spektreworks in Arizona, designed based on the Iranian Shahed-136 model.

This incident occurs amid heightened regional tensions and discussions regarding potential military escalations. US President Donald Trump recently indicated that the United States might conduct further military operations against Iran, suggesting that Washington is considering both military action and potential negotiations to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

In response to the situation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran’s policies will remain unchanged regardless of potential conflict or threats from the US and Israel. The military incident follows recent maritime tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route.
