Iran condemns US strikes, warns assisting nations could become targets
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned recent US military strikes on Iranian territory, calling them a “flagrant violation” of the UN Charter and a breach of a cease‑fire agreement. The ministry accused Washington of undermining regional stability and warned that any country whose territory or facilities are used to launch attacks against Iran may be regarded as a legitimate target for defensive action.
Iran called on the United Nations, including the Secretary‑General and the Security Council, to hold the United States accountable for what it described as aggression. In the strikes, US forces targeted missile and drone sites, naval capabilities and infrastructure in the Strait of Hormuz region, claiming the goal was to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian shipping. Iranian officials reported at least 14 people killed and dozens wounded, and Iran’s armed forces said they had retaliated against US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
The statements and threats come amid heightened tension over control of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil and gas shipping lane.
