Iran Confirms Death of Su‑24 Pilot Majid Kazemi after Qatar Base Strike

Iran's armed forces have officially confirmed the death of Majid Kazemi, an Air Force Su‑24 pilot holding the rank of amir sarlashgar dovom (major general). After extensive DNA testing and specialist examinations, the pilot's martyrdom was verified and his body was repatriated to Iran.

Kazemi participated in a February operation in which two Iranian Su‑24 bombers attacked the Al‑Udeid air base in Qatar, a facility used by U.S. forces. The strike caused significant damage, but the aircraft were later engaged by enemy air‑defence systems over the Persian Gulf. The pilot's remains were transferred to Shiraz for a funeral and burial ceremony. Iranian authorities continue efforts to determine the status of three other pilots from the two aircraft involved in the mission.
