Iran conflict expands into cyber warfare and maritime threats
The ongoing conflict involving Iran has expanded into asymmetric cyber warfare, targeting the United States military, defense industrial base, and domestic critical infrastructure. Iranian cyber operations, involving state contractors and proxies such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), aim to impose economic costs and disrupt logistics rather than achieving decisive digital victories.
Diplomatic tensions remain high as Iran refuses to move its enriched uranium stockpile, with security chief Mohsen Rezaei stating that such materials are a national asset. While Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated that indirect negotiations for a potential seven-day ceasefire are ongoing, the IRGC has threatened to target undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. strikes Iranian infrastructure.
In the Strait of Hormuz, oil tankers continue to face threats from Iranian missiles and drones, though crude exports have remained high, averaging over 12 million barrels per day in October. Meanwhile, Israeli leadership has expressed a commitment to bringing down the Iranian regime.
