Iran contacts Washington directly seeking agreement, Trump says

President Donald Trump stated that Iran has contacted Washington directly to seek an agreement, expressing hope that the current conflict is nearing its end. These remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region following large-scale military strikes by the US and Israel against Iranian infrastructure in February.

However, Iranian officials have signaled resistance to these claims. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, rejected the possibility of dialogue, stating that no talks will occur until Iran's specific conditions are met.

Simultaneously, a Pentagon Inspector General report has highlighted significant logistical challenges resulting from the conflict. The report indicates that the 'Epic Fury' operation cost approximately $33.4 billion between February and June, with $22.3 billion spent on munitions. This expenditure has led to shortages in strategic stockpiles and revealed bottlenecks within supply industries.
