Iran council elections expected to take place in late November

The seventh term of city and village council elections in Iran is expected to take place in late November. Officials indicate that the Supreme National Security Council has agreed to hold the elections, following discussions regarding the legal framework and necessary administrative preparations.

Members of the election supervision boards noted that the Supreme National Security Council's previous resolution, which linked the election timing to the end of a wartime status, is currently undergoing revision. Once these amendments are finalized, the official date will be announced to the Ministry of Interior and the Central Election Supervision Board to initiate the electoral process. Officials emphasized that local elections historically maintain high participation rates and can be conducted effectively despite previous security considerations.
