Iran dam reservoirs reach 55 percent capacity amid regional disparities
According to the Iran Water Resources Management Company, the nation's dam reservoirs are currently at a 55 percent filling capacity. This represents a 2 percent decrease compared to the previous week.
Despite this recent dip, water levels show significant improvement compared to the previous year. Total reservoir inflows have increased by 69 percent, reaching 46.25 billion cubic meters. Consequently, the total volume of water in reservoirs has risen by 36 percent to 28.72 billion cubic meters.
However, water scarcity remains a critical issue for specific regions. Six major dams—Lar, Doosti, Torogh, Panzdah Khordad, Barzou, and Saveh—report filling levels below 10 percent. In contrast, the Jegin, Azadi, Dovirej, and Ilam dams are near full capacity at approximately 100 percent.
National precipitation is recorded at 237.5 millimeters, which is slightly below the long-term average of 239.7 millimeters but significantly higher than the 146.8 millimeters recorded during the same period last year.
