Iran denies involvement in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has denied that Iran is at war with Saudi Arabia, stating that the Houthis have their own problems and that Tehran seeks a common security framework with regional neighbors including Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan.

These remarks follow recent escalations in the region, including Houthi attacks involving dozens of ballistic missiles and drones targeting military sites and weapon depots in southern Saudi Arabia, specifically near the Sharurah base. A drone strike on a Saudi East-West oil pipeline led to a temporary shutdown of the facility, contributing to a rise in global oil prices, with Brent crude increasing by over 3%.

During an interview, Pezeshkian accused the United States and Israel of being “state terrorists” due to their actions in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Qatar, and Iran. While Saudi Arabia and Iraq suggested recent drone activity originated from Iraqi territory, Pezeshkian maintained that Iran's primary disputes are with U.S. military bases in the region rather than neighboring governments.
