Iran discusses regional transport corridors and US negotiations

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, conducted a three-day visit to Kazakhstan to promote regional transport corridors. During the trip, which included participation in the 14th ECO Transport Ministers' Meeting and the New Silk Road International Transport and Logistics Forum, Sadegh proposed developing rail and road connections to link Central Asian countries to open waters. Discussions focused on creating a comprehensive cooperation document with Kazakhstan, removing road fleet transit barriers, and utilizing digital technologies in logistics.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that negotiations with the United States are ongoing through intermediaries such as Pakistan and Qatar. Araghchi mentioned that Iran presented a ‘seven-day initiative’ with specific conditions to the American side. He noted that if the U.S. adheres to the commitments outlined in the Islamabad Memorandum, there is potential for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and further rounds of negotiations to reach a final agreement.
