Iran dismisses impact of Israeli parliamentary elections
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the outcome of Israel's parliamentary elections will not significantly alter Tehran's stance toward the country. Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei remarked that it is of little importance to Iran who leads the Israeli regime, characterizing it as a source of violence and massacres in the region.
The elections follow the October 7 attacks and occur amid heightened regional tensions. In Israel, polling suggests a tight race between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party and the centrist party led by former military chief Gadi Eisenkot. Political analysts suggest that forming a governing coalition may prove difficult for either major bloc.
Prior to the vote, Prime Minister Netanyahu warned that Iran and its allies might attempt to disrupt the elections. However, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz clarified that Israel has no intention of attacking Iran before the vote, while maintaining that any Iranian aggression would be met with a firm response.
