Iran reports doubling of domestic defense production
Iranian defense officials have announced a significant surge in domestic military production. According to Ministry of Defense spokesperson Reza Talaei-Nik, the production of weapons and defense equipment has doubled over the past year. Furthermore, production of certain strategic items prioritized for wartime needs has increased more than threefold during recent conflicts.
To mark National Defense Industry Day, Major General Ali Abdollahi inspected an underground facility dedicated to manufacturing missiles and defense systems. Officials highlighted that Iran's ability to maintain production despite recent military strikes by the United States and Israel demonstrates the resilience of its domestic supply chain. This supply chain now includes over 9,000 private and knowledge-based companies, representing a 20% increase in participation over the last year.
Acting Defense Minister Majid Ebn al-Reza emphasized that Iran will not succumb to external pressures, noting that the defense industry is built on decades of self-reliance and sanctions resistance. While a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding was reportedly reached in June to end hostilities, Iranian military leaders continue to assert that strengthening military capabilities remains a strategic priority.
