Iran Economy Minister proposes subsidy credit increase
Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Seyyed Ali Madanizadeh, has announced plans to increase electronic subsidy credits for approximately 40 to 44 million citizens. The target group includes individuals with low income levels who lack certain assets, such as real estate or vehicles.
Madanizadeh stated that while the final amount depends on budget availability and resources secured from the Plan and Budget Organization, there is hope that the increase will be at least 300,000 Tomans per person. The final figure will be determined once the necessary funding is confirmed.
Additionally, the Minister discussed the pilot phase of the ‘Iranian Credit Card’ scheme, which is currently being tested at Bank Mellat and Tejarat Bank. He clarified that the scheme is not limited to marriage-related purposes. The initial phase has been allocated approximately 100 trillion Tomans in credit, with plans for a wider rollout once the system's performance and administrative processes are verified.
