Iran Energy Commission Chair highlights role of oil workers in economic security

Mousa Ahmadi, Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, has characterized oil industry workers as being on the “front lines of economic warfare.” Speaking at an exhibition regarding the history of the oil industry during the Sacred Defense era, Ahmadi emphasized that maintaining production and sales is vital to thwarting enemy objectives.

He noted that during past conflicts, such as the Iran-Iraq War, critical infrastructure including the Abadan refinery and South Pars gas fields were targeted to disrupt the nation's stability. He highlighted that workers' efforts to quickly rebuild and resume operations were essential to national resilience.

Ahmadi further stated that energy management is not a temporary issue but a continuous necessity. He defined energy management as a comprehensive process involving production, supply, transmission, and distribution. He called on the government and the Ministry of Petroleum to pursue long-term programs to address energy imbalances and strengthen infrastructure to ensure network stability.
