Iran expands rural internet connectivity in Khuzestan and Golestan

Regional authorities in Iran are reporting significant progress in expanding digital infrastructure and internet connectivity across rural areas in Khuzestan and Golestan provinces.

In Khuzestan, 209 villages have been connected to the national information network, providing stable communication to over 71,000 people. Recent efforts included connecting 41 additional villages through 30 new sites and upgrades to existing ones. Furthermore, a 124-kilometer fiber optic project is underway along the Susangerd-Chazabeh and Khorramshahr-Shalamcheh axes to establish stable communication links and support security infrastructure.

In Golestan, all 927 villages in the province now have access to at least one form of internet connection. While all 37 cities in the province benefit from high-speed fiber optic internet, officials are now shifting focus from quantitative expansion to improving service quality. Recent investments have focused on upgrading communication sites from 2G to 4G technology in various rural areas to enhance connectivity.
