Iran faces high unemployment among university graduates
Recent data from the Statistical Centre of Iran reveals a significant unemployment crisis among the country's educated population. According to the Labor Force Survey for the period of March 21 to June 20, 2026, university graduates account for 35.6% of the total unemployed individuals in Iran.
While graduates make up over one-third of the unemployed, they represent only 27.2% of the total workforce, a figure that has seen a negligible increase of only 0.1% compared to the previous year. This disparity highlights a growing gap between academic achievement and professional opportunities within the Iranian labor market.
