Iran football team blames FIFA for inadequate support at World Cup
Iran defender Rosabeh Gashmi said the national squad endured isolation and a lack of basic logistical support throughout the 2026 World Cup in Seattle. He accused FIFA of failing to deliver promises made before the tournament, noting the absence of Iranian media, coordinators, and federation officials with the team.
Captain of Esteghlal, who also spoke after Iran’s 1‑1 draw with Egypt, echoed these concerns, saying the missing support hampered physical and mental recovery and contributed to the result. Both players expressed hope that the remaining group‑stage results would allow Iran to qualify as one of the best third‑placed teams.
