Iran halts Gulf attacks following U.S. pause of airstrikes

Iran announced it has stopped attacks on neighboring Gulf countries after the United States temporarily halted its bombing campaign against Iranian targets in Iran.

Iranian military spokesperson Mohamad Akramine said Tehran’s strategy is based on retaliation, and the cessation of U.S. strikes led to a corresponding suspension of Iranian operations. U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump and senior military leaders such as Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Keane and CENTCOM Admiral Brad Cooper, said the pause was driven by concerns over Patriot missile‑defence stockpiles and the risk of broader escalation.

Tehran also clarified it has not requested the resumption of negotiations with Washington and continues to control the Strait of Hormuz. The United States has not declared an end to its campaign, keeping the possibility of further attacks open.
