Iran Health Ministry shuts 2,680 illegal clinics, readies field hospitals for leader's funeral

The Ministry of Health and Medical Education reported that 2,680 unauthorized medical institutions were identified and sealed over the past year, in cooperation with the Judiciary, the Ministry of Justice and the State Penitentiary Organization. The crackdown targeted entities operating without licences, including a large network‑marketing company that used unscientific health claims; its office in a province was closed and its owner referred to legal authorities.

Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi announced extensive emergency preparedness for the upcoming funeral ceremonies of the revolutionary leader in Tehran, expecting up to 15 million mourners. Temporary field hospitals, 24‑hour medical teams and rapid triage stations have been set up in the Imam Khomeini Mosque and other sites, with additional readiness in Qom and Mashhad. Measures address heat‑related illness, asthma and diabetes, and volunteers have been mobilised; officials say there are no shortages of staff or equipment.
