Iran targets 30,000 MW solar capacity within two years

Iran is significantly expanding its renewable energy infrastructure, with President Masoud Pezeshkian announcing a national target to reach 30,000 megawatts of solar power capacity within two years. To support this goal, the government has pledged full financial and land-use support for domestic solar panel manufacturers.

During recent ceremonies in Tehran province, 95 megawatts of solar capacity were inaugurated, including the 63 MW Qaed Shaheed and 32 MW Shohadaye Lamard plants. Additionally, the Minister of Energy issued orders for the simultaneous launch of 600 megawatts of new solar capacity across the country. The Central Bank has reportedly allocated $1.7 billion to facilitate these renewable energy developments.

Regional expansions are also underway: North Khorasan aims to increase its solar capacity from 3 MW to 100 MW, including solar installations for schools. In South Khorasan, a 10 MW plant was commissioned in Khosf, and in Malayer, plans are in motion to develop 200 MW of solar capacity to ensure stable power for local industries.
