Iran increases associated gas collection to 16 million cubic meters daily

Iran's Minister of Petroleum, Mohsen Paknejad, has reported a significant increase in the collection of associated petroleum gas (flared gas). The daily collection capacity has risen from approximately 7 million cubic meters prior to the 14th government to over 16 million cubic meters, representing an increase of 11.5 million cubic meters through various technical projects.

To achieve this, the ministry has implemented projects involving pressure boosting, pipeline transfers, and gas processing. The government has signed 23 new contracts with the private and non-governmental sectors, which is expected to shut down 57 flares and generate over $800 million in annual revenue. A policy allowing the private sector to receive associated gas at a base rate of zero has been established to encourage investment. The ministry aims to reintegrate nearly 90 percent of flared gas into the economy by the end of 1406 (Persian calendar).

In addition to gas flaring initiatives, Minister Paknejad highlighted broader government efforts to increase oil production, expand gas collection, and increase oil processing capacity in shared fields. He also noted that the administration has focused on securing fuel reserves for power plants and reducing diesel imports through coordination between the Ministries of Petroleum, Industry, Mine and Trade, and Energy.
