Iran Judiciary Head oversees new digital bail system in Tehran
Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, the head of Iran’s judiciary, visited a judicial complex in Tehran to oversee the implementation of new technological systems designed to modernize the legal process.
The focus of the visit was the ‘Electronic Guarantee’ scheme, a strategic initiative aimed at transitioning from traditional physical collateral to a digital and dynamic system. This smart acceptance of bail and guarantees is intended to facilitate judicial affairs and enhance legal security.
Mohseni-Ejei noted that under the traditional system, the process of identifying, valuing, and seizing assets for bail often caused significant delays, sometimes lasting several days. This frequently resulted in the unnecessary detention of defendants who could have otherwise secured release through rapid bail or a guarantor. The new AI-based and technological systems aim to resolve these bottlenecks and expedite the release of detainees.
