Iran launches ballistic missiles at U.S. base in Jordan

Iran launched 20 ballistic missiles targeting the U.S. Al-Azraq air base in Jordan, marking a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) described the strike as a retaliatory measure following U.S. actions against Iranian oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

Jordanian authorities confirmed that 20 missiles entered their airspace, but stated that 18 were successfully intercepted by air defense forces. The remaining two missiles landed in unpopulated areas, resulting in no casualties. While Iran claimed the attack caused significant damage to maintenance areas and aircraft hangars, U.S. officials reported that equipment damage was minimal and no fatalities occurred, though some personnel may suffer from delayed injuries such as traumatic brain injuries.
