Iran launches Janfada operation to mobilize civilian volunteers
Iran has launched a massive nationwide volunteer mobilization campaign known as Operation Janfada. The initiative aims to integrate civilians into the country's defense structure, specifically supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij paramilitary force.
During large-scale demonstrations in Tehran, participants marched to signal readiness for long-term confrontation with the United States and Israel. Hassan Hassanzadeh, commander of the IRGC in Tehran, reported that over 600,000 people have already registered for the program, with authorities aiming for a total of more than 1 million trainees.
Participants will undergo accelerated training in handling automatic weapons, with potential specialized instruction in land, air, and naval combat. The mobilization comes amid heightened regional tensions, including ongoing conflicts involving Houthi forces in Yemen and increased maritime alert levels for the EU's Aspides mission in the Red Sea.
