Iran launches next phase of electronic food voucher subsidy for families with ID numbers ending 0‑2

On Thursday 15 August 2025 (15 Mordad 1405), the Iranian government will deposit one million tomans into the electronic food voucher (Kālābarg) accounts of household heads whose national identification numbers end in 0, 1 or 2. This is the thirteenth installment of the non‑cash subsidy programme and the credit can be used for a month to purchase essential goods.

The schedule staggers other groups to avoid crowding: IDs ending 3‑6 will receive the credit on 20 August, and those ending 7‑9 on 25 August. The amount remains one million tomans per person; proposals to raise it have not yet been approved. Deputy Minister Yaghoob Andayesh said any increase would apply only to certain deciles.

As part of the scheme, Pegah dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.) are offered with a 10 % discount in participating stores, and items such as fish, shrimp and turkey have been added to the voucher basket. The programme is estimated to cost about 90 000 billion tomans per month (roughly 1 100 000 billion tomans annually).
