Iran launches oral health campaign for school children

Zahra Ghorbani, Director General of the Oral and Dental Health Office at the Ministry of Health, has announced a new week-long public health campaign to improve oral hygiene among primary school students in Iran. The initiative, launched in observance of World Children's Day, focuses on teaching essential habits such as brushing twice a day for two minutes, using dental floss, and maintaining healthy nutrition.

The campaign aims to address high rates of tooth decay in children, particularly in underprivileged regions. Last year, the ministry distributed approximately 300,000 toothbrushes and toothpastes to third-grade students across seven disadvantaged provinces. This program, which initially involved 15 medical universities and has since expanded to include 10 more through charitable participation, also utilizes educational worksheets and group brushing activities in schools to foster better hygiene habits.
