Iran medical professionals mark Avicenna anniversary with focus on healthcare infrastructure

During commemorations for the birth anniversary of the physician and philosopher Avicenna, Iranian officials and medical professionals highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and domestic pharmaceutical capabilities.

In Isfahan, Mohammad Noursalehi, head of the Isfahan City Council, emphasized the need to preserve Avicenna’s scientific and cultural heritage, specifically mentioning the Avicenna School. He called for improved health infrastructure in the region and noted the resilience of medical staff during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and economic sanctions.

In Tehran, a ceremony was held to honor specialist physicians from eastern Tehran at the Zist Takhmir knowledge-based pharmaceutical company. The event focused on the achievements of domestic pharmaceutical production in the face of international sanctions. Representatives noted that the company has transitioned the market from imported probiotics to domestically produced biological products using local technology to ensure self-sufficiency in essential medicines.
