Iran Ministry of Economy addresses subsidies and refinery discounts
Iranian economic officials have addressed several key fiscal matters regarding subsidies and industrial discounts. Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Seyyed Ali Madanizadeh, stated that a final decision regarding an increase in the value of electronic coupons (kalabarg) has not yet been made. He urged citizens to wait, noting that the government is working on measures that, if approved, could provide relief to the public. Madanizadeh also acknowledged the impact of inflation on purchasing power and indicated that government plans are being designed to counter these pressures.
Separately, Morteza Zamaniyan, Deputy for Economic Policy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, denied rumors that the government intends to eliminate feed discounts for domestic refineries. He clarified that the principle of providing feed rate discounts to refineries is certain, though the specific amount and mechanism are subject to government notification. Zamaniyan explained that discount amounts vary based on factors such as debt levels and specific refinery conditions, aiming for a balance that protects both refinery rights and national oil revenues.
