Iran Ministry of Education reports textbook distribution and staffing challenges

Alireza Kazemi, Iran’s Minister of Education, announced that approximately 164 million textbooks were printed and distributed for the current academic year. Despite challenges involving paper imports and wartime conditions, the minister stated that 99 percent of textbooks were distributed before the start of the school year.

Kazemi addressed reports of textbook shortages, attributing them to student transfers, registration delays, and changes in field of study rather than a lack of supply. He also noted efforts to revise educational content to reflect recent wartime events, such as the 12-day war and the Ramadan war, through subjects like social studies and contemporary history.

Regarding human resources, the minister identified staffing as a major challenge and noted that recruitment exams were not held this year. In Lorestan province, education officials are also implementing support programs, including the planned distribution of milk and biscuits to schools in 30 scheduled shifts.
