Iran mobile phone prices surge up to fourfold in one year
The mobile phone market in Iran has experienced significant price increases over the past year, with some popular models rising in cost by two to four times. This surge is attributed to several compounding factors, including exchange rate fluctuations, increased import costs, and supply constraints.
Analysis of the market between August 2025 and August 2026 indicates that the price hikes are particularly impactful for mid-range and budget models, which constitute a large portion of consumer demand. This trend has led to a notable decline in consumer purchasing power, forcing many households to either opt for much cheaper alternatives or delay purchases entirely.
Because the Iranian mobile market is heavily dependent on foreign production and imports, it remains highly sensitive to changes in currency allocation, import registration, and customs clearance processes. Recent reports of temporary restrictions on mobile phone order registrations have further fueled concerns regarding supply shortages and continued price volatility.
