Iran national football team plans early training camp for Asian Cup

The coaching staff of the Iran national football team has proposed an early training camp starting on December 22 (1 Dey) to prepare for the upcoming Asian Cup. Saeed Holouei stated that the decision stems from observations that the physical and technical readiness of players in the Iranian domestic league has declined. The goal is to restore players to the high standards seen during the final stages of the previous Asian Cup.

This early start has raised concerns among Iranian Premier League clubs due to the impact on domestic schedules. Additionally, the national team's selection process has faced criticism. Football expert Rasul Karbakandi noted a lack of youth integration within the squad, suggesting that the coaching staff prioritizes immediate results over long-term development, often opting for experienced players rather than blooding new talent.
