Iran offers bounties for capture or killing of U.S. soldiers

Iran has announced a bounty of up to $40,000 for the capture or killing of a United States soldier. Iranian military spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia stated that the reward is $20,000 for any citizen who captures or delivers the remains of a U.S. soldier, a figure that doubles to $40,000 if the individual is a woman. Akraminia also suggested that citizens from other countries in the region could be eligible for the reward.

This announcement follows a period of intense military conflict in the Persian Gulf. According to U.S. Department of War data, 880 soldiers have been reported dead or wounded over an 18-week period during the “Epic Fury” operation. The data includes 444 reported incidents attributed to Iranian actions. Recent escalations include a significant engagement in the Strait of Hormuz involving the pursuit of a vessel and an attack on a cargo ship.
