Iran officials prioritize sports infrastructure and athlete support
In Iran, local officials are addressing the need for improved sports infrastructure and athlete support. In the Eram District, District Governor Seyyed Hossein Jafari held a consultative meeting with athletes and coaches. Jafari emphasized that sports are a priority for regional development, serving as tools for health and social cohesion. Athletes raised several concerns, including the lack of standard grass pitches, inadequate training facilities, high costs for national competitions, and the need for better support for women's and rural sports.
In Hamadan province, Member of Parliament Hamidreza Hajibayi announced efforts to construct a 50-meter swimming pool meeting international standards. This project aims to address a critical shortage of specialized swimming infrastructure in the region. Currently, over 300 athletes utilize existing facilities, but the development of a new standard pool is being pursued to support championship-level sports development.
