Iran Parliamentarian: 10 bills to withdraw from NPT registered

Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, has announced that 10 bills calling for Iran’s withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) have been registered. Rezaei stated that most lawmakers support the move and that the proposals are prepared for presentation to the parliamentary floor.

During a televised interview, Rezaei discussed regional security and the nuclear issue, asserting that Iran must not make concessions regarding its national security. He referenced recent regional conflicts, noting that Iran has demonstrated its capability to confront threats regardless of their location, including Iraqi Kurdistan, the coast of Oman, or locations in Manama and Doha.

Rezaei also addressed public sentiment, claiming that pre-war polls indicated significant support for nuclear weapons development. He criticized previous diplomatic frameworks, suggesting that the experience of the JCPOA demonstrated that engagement with Western powers has not yielded the desired security outcomes.
