Iran pensioners face uncertainty over salary increases
Iranian retirees and government employees are facing uncertainty regarding potential salary increases amid rising living costs. Activist Amir Rahbar has highlighted a significant discrepancy between different decision-making bodies regarding the issue.
The head of the Plan and Budget Organization stated that salary adjustments will be reviewed during the budget preparation process, with the government prioritizing expenditures based on legal authority. Conversely, members of the Social Commission of the Parliament have emphasized the necessity of mid-year salary repairs to compensate for the loss of purchasing power caused by inflation.
Advocates argue that the current ambiguity is unsustainable for millions of earners who must meet immediate expenses such as rent, medical costs, and food. There are calls for the three branches of government to intervene directly to resolve the conflicting statements and provide a definitive timeline for wage adjustments.
