Iran prepares to host ECO summit in Tehran

Iran's First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, has ordered the formation of five specialized working groups to prepare for the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Tehran. These groups, led by relevant ministers, will focus on cultural, tourism, diplomatic, economic, and political sectors.

Aref emphasized that hosting the summit at the highest level is a strategic priority for the current administration to enhance regional relations. He noted that Iran's engagement with organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union has improved significantly compared to previous years.

The summit is viewed as an opportunity to revitalize the ECO, which Aref noted has underperformed over the last four decades. The goal is to restore the organization's regional standing and establish new horizons for cooperation among its ten member states.
