Iran President urges BRICS to protect nuclear infrastructure
During the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on member nations to oppose attacks on civilian nuclear infrastructure and to act as a ‘voice of justice’ for Palestine. Pezeshkian advocated for BRICS to strengthen political coordination under the UN Charter, develop economic and financial independence from monopolies, and expand cooperation in science, energy, and food security for the Global South. He also emphasized the need to combat unilateral sanctions and establish a permanent secretariat for the organization.
In a separate statement, Pezeshkian declared that Iran will not surrender to United States pressure, questioning why conflicts target civilian infrastructure, food supplies, and access to water and medicine.
On the sidelines of the summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to cooperate on resolving border disputes between their two nations. The leaders committed to enhancing cultural exchanges, business connectivity, and facilitating travel, while addressing trade imbalances and supply chain concerns.
