Iran reconstructs Taleghan 2 underground facility at Parchin

Satellite imagery has revealed that Iran is conducting rapid reconstruction of the Taleghan 2 underground military facility located within the Parchin complex. To obscure construction activities from aerial and satellite surveillance, Iran has covered the site with a large tarp.

According to reports from the Institute for Science and International Security, significant activity was observed on September 13, including the use of bulldozers, cranes, concrete pumps, and cement trucks. The reconstruction efforts, which reportedly began in June 2026, involve filling breaches caused by previous strikes with concrete and building new reinforced structures to protect the site from future attacks.

Taleghan 2 has a history linked to nuclear weapons research and was previously targeted in strikes in October 2024 and March 2026. Analysts, including former UN weapons inspector David Albright, have described these activities as ‘deeply concerning’ due to the facility's suspected role in explosive testing related to nuclear warhead development. While Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons, the continued fortification of the site raises significant questions regarding its strategic intentions.
