Iran recovers nearly 20 billion euros in unfulfilled currency obligations
Iranian authorities have recovered nearly 20 billion euros from a total of 94 billion euros in identified unfulfilled foreign currency obligations. According to Zabihullah Khodaian, former head of the General Inspection Organization, these funds have been reintegrated into the national economy through various legal channels.
Of the recovered amount, 7.5 billion euros were processed through the Currency and Gold Exchange Center, 1.59 billion euros through authorized banks and exchange offices, and 10.86 billion euros via debt settlements and other legal methods.
The Tehran Prosecutor's Office has designated four specific officials to oversee the recovery of these obligations. Currently, 700 cases are under investigation, including 583 reports referred by the General Inspection Organization to the Tehran Economic Crimes Prosecutor's Office. Several company managers have been formally charged and placed under temporary detention following investigations into their failure to meet currency commitments.
