Iran responds to Trump's threats using Indian film clip
Following threats from US President Donald Trump to ‘annihilate’ the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe issued a symbolic response using Indian cinema. The embassy shared a 58-second action clip from the Telugu-language film ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, to assert that Iran is not defenceless.
The diplomatic exchange follows Trump’s address at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where he stated he faced a ‘big decision’ regarding whether to reach a deal with Iran or potentially annihilate the nation to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons. In response to the US stance, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the assembly, stating that the Iranian people are the true victims of attacks by the US and Israel, and asserting that Iran would never succumb to threats.
The embassy’s social media post included a remark suggesting the US administration had ‘recently been watching Bollywood instead of Hollywood’, though the clip used was actually from a Telugu-language production rather than a Bollywood film.
