Iran says oil exports continue as US reimposes sanctions on Iranian shipping network

The United States Treasury reinstated a broad set of sanctions on Iran’s oil sector on 14 July, targeting the maritime transport network of Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani. The measures freeze assets of about 50 individuals and entities, including ships, and forbid U.S. persons from dealing with them. The sanctions aim to dismantle the financial and logistical structures that Washington says enable Iran to evade earlier restrictions.

Iran’s petroleum minister Mohsen Paknejad responded on his Telegram channel, asserting that Iranian crude shipments are proceeding "normally" despite the U.S. decision. He said Iran has maintained mechanisms for years that neutralise the impact of American sanctions and that the revocation of the 60‑day waiver does not threaten oil exports. Paknejad also accused the United States of breaking its own commitments under the memorandum of understanding that had paused sanctions.

The sanction wave coincides with the U.S. re‑imposition of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, announced by President Donald Trump, and with renewed missile and drone strikes by Iran against U.S. bases in the region.
