Iran Schedules Ali Khamenei Funeral on July 4, Burial on July 9

Iranian state media announced that the funeral rites for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will begin in Tehran on 4 July, with subsequent ceremonies in Qom on 7 July, and conclude with his burial in the holy city of Mashhad on 9 July.

Khamenei was killed on 28 February during coordinated US‑Israeli airstrikes that also claimed the lives of members of his family. His death ends more than three decades of rule, and the timing of the funeral respects the mourning period of Muharram and the anniversary of Imam Husayn, underscoring its religious significance across Iran.
