Iran Schedules Funeral Ceremonies for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei

Iran has announced the official timetable for the funeral and burial of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The ceremonies will take place from July 4 to July 9, 2026, in three holy cities: Tehran, Qom and Mashhad.

The schedule includes a public farewell in the Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran on July 4‑5, a formal procession in Tehran on July 6, a transfer of the cortege to Qom on July 7, and the final mourning and interment in Mashhad on July 9 at the Imam Reza shrine. The notice also lists members of Khamenei’s family who will be honoured during the rites. Authorities expect extensive popular attendance and a strong presence of religious and official representatives from inside Iran and abroad.

The announcements were issued by the committee responsible for preserving Khamenei’s legacy and were reported by Iranian news agencies.
