Iran security forces deploy motorcycle patrols and checkpoints amid unrest

Iranian security forces have significantly increased their presence in Tehran and other major cities, deploying motorcycle patrols, checkpoints, and personnel to manage potential unrest. This security surge coincides with the return of university students to the streets, where demonstrations have been recorded regarding compulsory hijab rules, rising education costs, and political repression.

Reports indicate that members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Basij paramilitary force, and law enforcement have been stationed at strategic locations and major squares. Security personnel have been observed stopping pedestrians, conducting searches, and inspecting mobile phones for content deemed “anti-regime” by authorities.

According to claims from the National Council of Resistance of Iran, authorities may have ordered the Army, IRGC, Basij, and law enforcement to maintain “100%” readiness and canceled leave through late September. While these specific deployment figures have not been independently verified, the heightened security measures align with state-organized events such as “Sacred Defense Week.”
