Iran security forces placed on maximum alert amid deployment
Iranian security forces have been placed on maximum alert following reports of heightened social discontent and the potential for renewed street protests. According to the Commission on Security and Counterterrorism of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Basij, and law enforcement agencies have been placed on 100% alert, with personnel leave canceled through September 27.
In the Greater Tehran region, approximately 51,000 security personnel have been deployed, consisting of 21,000 law enforcement officers and 30,000 members of the IRGC and Basij. This deployment coincides with motorized parades organized during ‘War Week’ to demonstrate military and security presence.
Concurrently, Iranian military leadership has emphasized the nation's growing deterrence capabilities. Brigadier General Alireza Sheikh stated that Iranian forces have successfully demonstrated their strength on regional and international stages, noting advancements in technology to counter enemy drones and improvements to the Arash-type drone. Acting Defense Minister Majid Ebn-al-Reza also noted that Iran's defensive doctrine has changed, with an accelerated production of defensive capabilities.
