Iran Sends 160 Tons Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake‑Hit Venezuela
Iran shipped 160 tons of humanitarian assistance to Venezuela following the June 24 earthquakes that devastated the coastal state of La Guaira. The cargo, which includes 40 tons of ready‑to‑distribute food kits, diapers, towels, oils and other essential items, arrived at the Port of La Guaira and was received by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil alongside officials from the ministries of Food and the regional government.
The aid will be processed at Mercal’s distribution centre and dispatched to temporary camps and affected communities through the existing logistics network of communal councils and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces. Gil thanked Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi and Chargé d’Affaires Sirous Karimi for the rapid response. Official figures report the earthquakes killed 3,889 people, injured 16,740 and damaged more than 856 buildings.
